So I have finally found one of the most perfect party ideas AND it will cure your next President’s Day.
Throw a party. Yes. That would be throw a party during Presidents Day and bring in a piano player and a award winning chef and see where that would lead.
I have many items on my bucket list. I frequently get new party ideas along with all my new song ideas and lyric ideas. But I don’t think I ever came up with throwing an afternoon party on Presidents Day.
No Need To Wait Until Next Year for Great Party Ideas
Well it happened for me yesterday. And what a success! Not a lot of people. Only about 10, maybe 12 folks. A few of their kids showed up. We ate great food, we sang some great songs, we sat down with friends and made great memories. You can too.
Plus, and here’s the good part, you don’t have to wait until next year’s Presidents Day. Start thinking about your outdoor BBQs and your graduation party ideas and your anniversary party ideas. We can make this another fantastic event filled and life long lasting memory creating event that will last a lifetime.
Call me to see what kind of ideas I can come up with for you and your memory tank.

This is the season of new beginnings. Spring time. Hope. New things.
One season ends and another begins. Accomplishments bear fruit and we see the results of our efforts come forth. Graduation.
We had another high school graduation this month. Our youngest left high school and embarks on her next chapter. College. A new season. A new beginning.
With all of our children, we have hopes and dreams that they will one day do well; find their way, contribute on a meaningful way.
We give them the best of ourselves (and sometimes the worst) and we hope that it will be enough for when they need it most. Schools. Clothes. Friends. The best of everything – or at least the best that we can provide at the time.
It’s like the great Robin Williams joke. And I’m paraphrasing of course, You hold them in your arms as a new born and you wonder what their lives’ will be like. Will they be hearing “… and now to accept the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, Physics and Basketball …” or will they be saying “Would you like fries with that?”
So here’s to all of you and yours doing well this graduation season. May all your parties be grand and festive and may all your futures be bright and productive.
So I think I’m finally figuring out how to use Priceline.com to my advantage. Since I travel so much as a piano player for hire, I figured it’s worth making it work for me and our family budget.
But I’m wondering something …
Who the hell picks these paintings?
Not that they’re bad or anything. I’m just kind of wondering cuz they are exceptionally non-descript.
There’s nothing about them that make you go, “Oh. That’s really cool. I think I should get some for my collection. Let me call my art broker and see if he can cut me a deal on a bulk purchase.”
And what the hell is with this smell?
These NON-SMOKING rooms smell all perfumey. And not that good kind of perfumey, like wow I need some of this funk in my house right now too. It’ll go great with those paintings I just bought.
I would rather have the old stale cigarette smoke from yesteryear.
No. Wait. I wouldn’t. That was REALLY disgusting.
But this new smell seems like it’s designed to be cat house friendly or something. I can hear the voice over on the radio spot: “It smells like a brothel, but bring the kids anyway. It’s safe and won’t deform their growth. Plus, it’ll create all kinds of fresh and special memories you can share for a lifetime.”
Oh well. The price was right. Here’s to shopping on the Internet.
Bye for now.
I’ve been so busy lately that I forgot to post this to the site. So if you don’t make it by I’ll know why. But once you’re done with your day on the boat and all your graduation parties, pop on by The Open Range 35 N Water Street, Batavia, IL We don’t get started until 9 and were going till Midnight. So grab. Friend … Or two … and we’ll see down here.
Dueling Pianos until Midnight Live music and comedy for your listening and laughing pleasure.
I was always wondering, ever since I was a wee young one, “Was I born with the Excessive Gene?”. I was never one to be satisfied easily. I was never the guy who was happy being the best. I always wanted to be great. Frustrating when it came to sports, yes. But thankfully I found something I could do well. Music. Specifically playing piano. I didn’t come fast nor easy for me. My obsessive nature allowed me to keep going even when I wasn’t really cutting it on the music scene.
So that’s why when I heard from a potential client who wanted to hire us for their fundraiser entertainment that they thought “Live Music was a bit excessive for our event.” I thought “Wow! I’m right on target again.”
I don’t mind hearing “No.” since I have been hearing it most of my life. Plus, I know when I get rejected, I’m all that much closer to hearing someone say “Yes!”
Live music at your next event is not excessive. It is perfect because, nowadays, no one expects it. It used to be there was a ton of bands out there performing and doing gigs. But now it seems like the only time you hear live music anymore it is a wedding music bands or at church.
That’s why we get called repeatedly, year after year, by our customers who are hosting graduation parties or charity events or company events. Live music works. I may even go so far as to argue that it is necessary.
It brings your donors back year after year. They bring their friends. They want to hear good music and have a few laughs and enjoy themselves. Live music adds color to this otherwise bland and monochrome world.
So thank you rejected potential future client. I take it as a compliment that Live Music is Excessive. We are.

This has nothing to do with our booming entertainment business. This announcement is a result of years of love and dedication.
We get to play music because of listeners like you who support us. It is my passion. Our oldest son has been following his passion.
Here’s a post we got from him earlier today: This is a result of long hours honing your craft son under less than optimal conditions. Congratulations to …. Keaton Gillogly
“Today I have officially accepted the position of play-by-play broadcaster for the Michigan State Women’s basketball team.
I couldn’t be more excited. To those of you I have relied on for advice and critiques of my tape, thank you. I would not be here without that.”
Congratulations. We love you!
