Company Event Entertainment Just Got Easier

So I want to talk about all the company event entertainment coming up that we have on tap for everyone, now that I know you all like my new logo,

As you know the Holiday season is upon us. If you’re not sure, then just turn on your TV or your radio> It’s okay. It’s safe to do so now that the elections are over and done with. When you do, you will see a semblance of Christmas ads already in full swing. I guess advertisers are getting a good rate now that the politicians are out of the way.

company event entertainment with live music and comedy

Company Event Entertainment

We have a wide variety of live music acts available for your company Christmas party again this year. Most importantly — it is very affordable when you go with one of the great piano players we have on board. Namely Me. Dan Gillogly. Okay … so it ain’t bragging if you can do it. But as much fun as you guys have, it is more fun for me. I’d love to hear from you so we can get things rolling.

We had another fantastic night of entertainment last Saturday night. People came together singing songs that everyone knew the words to and laughing along with all the improvised comedy and having a great time listening to live music as their entertainment.

Your party planning never got easier. Just pick up the phone and call Amber at +1 773-527-7417. We may still have your date available. It’s hard to say. There’s always one way to find out. If you’re the one in charge of finding great entertainment for company event this year, give her a call. I can GUARANTEE  you will have fun! You guys will be talking about the great laughs for months — possibly years after the superior night of live music and comedy entertainment at your company event.

Why Live Music is So Important

Sometimes we really can’t explain why or what we’re doing onstage when we’re playing live music at company events or as party entertainers. But we do know this: It Is SO-O important.

I had a woman come up to me after a show this last weekend. She was so emphatic about letting us know how good she felt.

She said, “My husband and I haven’t been out since our house was destroyed in a tornado.”

I think the Greeks were right. Music helps to heal. It moves large internal objects that we can not see. God gave us music so we could pray with out words.

She was positively invigorated after an evening of live music and comedy. When I see that happen, I just want to tell everybody. It is so essential that we work to get ourselves back in balance — especially after Mother nature changes our lives forever in a single act.

The tornado that took their house changed their lives in an instant. Hard to explain why. Never may be a good one. But I do know this. Music can change your life for the better in an instant too. Hard to explain why. We just know that is does. Sometime music may not get rid of all the lousy things that are going on in between your ears or in your neighborhood. But will change how you feel so that maybe — just maybe you can get through all the stuff you can not explain.

Our jobs as entertainers is to help people feel better — in spite of what is going on.

I don’t know her name. But I know I will never forget her. We don’t know how important live music is for our souls. But I do know this. I am truly honored and blessed and every time I get onstage. Thank you in advance for letting us help you.

Have you completed your search for holiday entertainment ideas?

… Glad to hear it. Most people wait until the last minute and then they can’t find quality professional entertainment for their company office party. It makes it extra hard to come up with quality holiday entertainment ideas under the pressure of the calendar deadline.

dueling pianos for your company events

Holiday Party Planning ideas

It’s simple really. Most of the best entertainment agencies have their bookings solid by the time the leaves start to change their colors. But that’s because they have a limited number of options available for you to choose from. Not here. We don’t want you to be left out in the cold. We have a versatile entertainment company to assist you.

If you’re looking for corporate Team Building activities you can include in your company Christmas party, try a dueling pianos show.

We also have live music in the form of world class bands, jazz trios and hoola hoops.

Okay NOT hoola hoops. But when it comes to great party ideas, of course we’re going to recommend live music and comedy. It’s what we do best and it’s what we’ve been doing for well over 30 years now.

But if you’re in charge of organizing your company Christmas party for all the other Cubers, then think about a couple of these ideas.

Gingerbread Decorating Station. Everyone gets to decorate their own cookies. even take some home to the wee ones. Or better yet, build a bunch of fruit baskets that you can hand out to your friends as gifts.

Yes we know that when you call us with your date and you’re looking for holiday party planning ideas, we can deliver. It’s not an easy task being in charge of coming up with holiday party ideas for a small office — or a large one for that matter.

Give us a call right now. Let us know how we can help.
You’ll be amazed out how simple this can be.

Repetitive Spontaneity with Dueling Pianos

What?!? Another dueling pianos show? We know how to keep it fresh and spontaneous. How? Well … We use spontaneous music and comedy like no one else.

Yes. Another dueling pianos show again tonight. It was a little light last night, Friday. But the people who did show up had a great time. A small but mighty crowd as we like to say.

All American Dueling Pianos Live Music and Comedy for your corporate event

Live Music and Comedy Dueling Pianos

We promise to be completely spontaneous

— all over again.

It’s a lot of fun getting onstage not knowing if the audience is going to respond. Friday night was like that at a corporate event in Peoria IL for our dueling pianos show.

At first they weren’t sure if they liked us.
Then they weren’t sure if we were funny.
I’m not event certain they thought we were very entertaining because
at first, they just sat there looking at us and smiling.

But by the end of the night they knew. They KNEW! Good crowd. Better one on Saturday Night. We were performing for a charity event fund raiser entertainment for a church near Chicago that night.

We do it with Live Music and Comedy. Our comedy is customized to fit your event. We do it by asking all the right questions in advance of the date. And we do it through highly skilled improvisation honed over the years by performing with the greats.

Connecting with the audience is the key. But it won’t work unless your performers are authentic. As you know, a dueling pianos sow can be a whole bunch of mirror balls and fog machines. But it is not necessary. A true dueling piano show has two pianos, two mics and an audience.

The best performers play an audience as well as they can play a piano. That’s what we do at All American Dueling Pianos. We play an audience by connecting in an authentic fashion. No fancy gimmicks. Straight ahead music and comedy specifically designed for your group. Try it ..

You will be certain by the end of the night then too … you will laughing out loud and dancing up a storm … All completely spontaneously.

So if you want to get completely spontaneous all over again at your next event …

If You Ever Drove A Lamborghini Would You Tell Anybody?

I was pulling up to the restaurant gig today and I went to park with the valet. They were very busy because it was the dinner hour. I pulled up in my minivan to own unload my gear. I told the guy I was the piano player for the night and he quickly said, “Okay. Fine.” Then he ran to the car behind me.I was kind of insulted at first. I figured he was thinking, “Oh great! Here’s another musician. I don’t have to pay attention to him.”But I wasn’t insulted when I looked in my rearview mirror to see the car that he ran to.  It was a jet black Lamborghini. The valet was grinning ear to ear.
lamborghini, luxury cars, piano music, live music,

Nice Ride!

I don’t often have car lust. I have lusted after the BMW 700 series. Especially if it still comes with the hydrogen fuel-cell. That would be a cool car to drive. I’ve never driven one. But I definitely plan on driving one sometime in my life.

I have driven the Corvette. Now that’s a nice machine. I would definitely look into getting a Corvette. But most of the other high-end luxury cars don’t really interest me all that much. I’m sure they’re nice. I’m sure they’d be wonderful to drive and to own. But I don’t give them all that much thought.

But as I looked at this Lamborghini I thought,
“Now that’s a car I should definitely look into someday.”

I looked at the valet with a smile on his face as he drove off in the Lamborghini and I wondered “I’ll bet he has a short list of really nice cars he would like to own someday.” I’m sure he does and I’m sure that if he did not have a Lamborghini on his list he does now.

The valet has probably driven more luxury cars than I’ve even thought of in my life.

One more thing — if had ever worked as a valet and I had a chance to park a Lamborghini, I would definitely tell my friends. “Yeah, I’ve driven a Lamborghini.”  Even if I only just parked one.

Should A Bar Sue A Band for Live Music?

I wanted to share this story about live music. This marks a disturbing trend. Disturbing for everyone who loves live music and especially for this of us who play live music.

bar_band_live_musicIf the bar owner is claiming he has no control over what the band plays, and his argument wins in court, then that makes the cover band liable for the fines to be paid to BMI.

So that would now keep the bar owner in business but it would put the band out of business.

This is a very difficult topic, kind folks. Since most bands are only hobbyists who do not make their full time income from playing music, (People like me seem to be in the minority these days) there will now be even fewer qualified bands to perform live music.

If this trend persists, the restriction of which music a band can or can not play based on a license with the performing rights agency, live music will cease to exist.

I would like people who know more about this subject than i do to chime in here. Let me know if this is what is going to happen in the future.

Will Live Music cease to exist on a grass roots level? Will bar bands stop performing due to high licensing fees? What does an amateur band or a bunch of kids in high school do to get compliance?

Now we are seeing an upsurge in BMI suing local bars for copyright infringement based on the music their cover bands are playing.

There is a work around. Stop playing cover tunes. The problem is most people want to hear the music they know. So new music is not readily accepted these days.

I went to an outdoor festival the other day and all the bands were playing cover tunes. People were singing along and having a great time.

I play a ton of gigs where cover tunes are not only accepted but expected.

What’s Your Favorite Song?

The question I get asked second most is, favorite song
“What kind of music do you like to play the best?”

favorite song, piano music, good music,

Two Kinds of Music

I always like to quote Duke Ellington who said, “There are only two kinds of music. Good and the other kind.”

I only play one kind. Which is good.

But what is good? How do you know it’s good? It’s so hard to tell these days. Let’s go back to the Grand Master Duke who went on to say,

If it sounds good and feels good, then it IS good!”

So it starts if I can make it sound good. Brown Eyed Girl can have a great groove. You can play it reggae style. You can play it bluesy. You can even go Calypso on it and fill the dance floor in nothing flat. favorite song

So, basically, if my audience is having a good time, it’s probably cuz it feels good to them.

I can play Sweet Caroline 4 times a night because if I place it in the right portion of the night, people love that song. They’re having a great time with it. So I’m having fun too.

I got asked that question the other night again, “What is your favorite song to play?”

I was in a club. It wasn’t all that busy. Kind of a quiet night. Maybe 50 people in the bar. The usual mix of foreigners and American tourists. A few Canadians but mostly Brits. A relaxing, warm spring evening in Chicago.

I love meeting new people. Especially people from other places than my neighborhood or my city. It’s good to have another perspective.

I remember one time I was playing on a boat that was spinning around Lake Michigan. I was a young man; about 20 something. I struck up a conversation with a woman from Israel who was living in Germany. I was complaining about our government and all the problems. She just looked at me and in no uncertain terms expressed, “You have no idea how good you have it here in America.”

There are always more than one way to look at things. I forget that sometimes unless I am talking with a wide and varied group of people on a regular basis.

Last night at a party I met a woman who was probably in her late 60s who is deeply involved in the justice system. Her point of view is massively different than my friends who are police.

That’s why when people ask me what kind of music I like the best, I have to answer with a question; “What kind of music do you like? What is your favorite song?” Because as an entertainer I’m not really allowed to judge. I want you to have a good time. I want you to hear the music that makes you feel good. If you’re feeling good, then I’m feeling good. Pretty simple really.

But as a musician (not as an entertainer) I have a very different point of view. First and foremost, it has to have a groove. I also like music that tells a story. I like music that has interesting harmonic structures; something I can spread my wings on and investigate tonalities and textures within the course of the tune. I like to discover something new in every song. Especially if I’ve been playing it for many months – or years.

It’s pretty simple. It comes down to the same thing for me too. Does it make me feel good? Cuz if I’m feeling good, you are too.

Let’s feel good together with live music and piano songs that create more great memories that will lat a lifetime for you.

Why Pop Music Doesn’t Suck So Bad

I played a pop music gig at a very successful nationwide restaurant chain this last week. It was my first time there. They have music there 7 nights a week. I had resisted taking a gig there. “Why?” you ask? I’ll tell you why. I am so used to being the headliner, if you will, that I wasn’t too keen on taking a gig where I needed to back a female singer. Especially because I know so many of the other piano players who were there and who told me it was a bit of a pressure cooker.

There were set lists and charts and arrangements to follow and I’m more of an improviser. I like interacting with the audience. I don’t like being wall paper per se. I don’t mind being in the background. I prefer comedy and interaction with the audience.

But as things happen, I had the night open and they were in desperate need of a fill in.

So I said “Yes”.

I’m glad I did.

The top manager was completely cool. Very relaxed. So because everything begins at the top, the rest of the managers were chill as well. Not bad for a Saturday before Mother’s Day.

The singer was excellent! Professional and gracious. Very talented and beautiful on the inside and the out. The drummer was a friend of mine who I had not seen in over 15 years. Top flight cat who really takes pop music seriously.

What I mean by that is this: All of pop music tends to be similar. Similar chord changes. Similar melodies. Similar subject matters. You know what I’m talking about. All the same across the board.

The only thing that is different from song to song is the arrangement. My friend Jeff takes those arrangements seriously. He treats them as though they are symphonic scores. He can do that since he has worked with all the top symphonies in the land. He has worked the pit orchestras of the major theater productions here in Chicago. He knows the importance of an arrangement in pop music.

So tune in next time to hear more about this gig that is coming up for me again in the near future. Great restaurant. Great live music entertainment in the great city of Chicago.

Until then … For God’s Sake … Please be nice to somebody, will ya?

Did You Hear What Stephen Hawking Said About One Direction?

It’s nearly impossible to believe this guy Stephen Hawking could be any smarter. Seriously!

It was amazing how astute our biggest brain in this universe came up with this. Was he thinking about it before he spoke? Or did he come up with the answer before he was even asked.

Stephen Hawking, arguably the biggest brain in our known galaxy, was asked a question about fav rave boy band One Direction and the new direction their lead singer was taking. IOW,

What are the cosmological effects of Zayn Malik leaving boy band One Direction?

See what he said here:

The Power of Live Music Entertainment Will Astound You!

The Power of Live Music Entertainment
will literally astound you!

Edison said …

“If we all did the things we are capable of doing we would literally astound ourselves.”

The power of music is astounding! I get to see it every night I am playing piano music live in a corporate event or at a club date. I can see it whether I am entertaining in a country club or at a fund raiser.

Yes I can play piano and yes I can sing. But the music isn’t mine. It belongs to all of us and my job is to provide the vehicle for you to climb in and take a ride;

A Magic Carpet Ride.

Ride Sally Ride.

Baby You Can Drive My Car.

The tricky part is letting you know you need it before you know you want it.

So I am here to tell you want it. You need it. You crave live music entertainment and you’re going to be talking about what an astounding time you had last night tomorrow morning and for the rest of your life.

You will remember your event for years to come and maybe even beyond. It won’t because of the bean dip. It won’t be that really funny story Uncle Funky tells every party ever year every time you get guys get together.

It’s going to be the live music you shared. It’s going to be the dancing and the singing and the great memories you’ve created together with me behind the piano or with my band.

I’m not making this up. The music is telling you this is true.
You know how I know?
Let me ask you a question:

Do you remember where you were when you got your first kiss?

Of course you do.

Now what was your favorite song from that time period?

See? You knew instantly.

That’s the power of music.

That song (or songs) that was playing on the radio or on the 8 track player in the car you were in at the time, ingrained your emotional happiness. It became the soundtrack to your life.

That’s the power of music.

It transcends everything that was going on at the time. You don’t remember what you ate for breakfast the morning of your first kiss. But you remember the song that was your favorite.

So call me and let’s create some more great memories with live music entertainment.

I am Dan and I am the PianoMan and I would be honored if you would let me create those moments with you and your friends and family that will last a lifetime.
