Have you completed your search for holiday entertainment ideas?

… Glad to hear it. Most people wait until the last minute and then they can’t find quality professional entertainment for their company office party. It makes it extra hard to come up with quality holiday entertainment ideas under the pressure of the calendar deadline.

Holiday Party Planning ideas

It’s simple really. Most of the best entertainment agencies have their bookings solid by the time the leaves start to change their colors. But that’s because they have a limited number of options available for you to choose from. Not here. We don’t want you to be left out in the cold. We have a versatile entertainment company to assist you.

If you’re looking for corporate Team Building activities you can include in your company Christmas party, try a dueling pianos show.

We also have live music in the form of world class bands, jazz trios and hoola hoops.

Okay NOT hoola hoops. But when it comes to great party ideas, of course we’re going to recommend live music and comedy. It’s what we do best and it’s what we’ve been doing for well over 30 years now.

But if you’re in charge of organizing your company Christmas party for all the other Cubers, then think about a couple of these ideas.

Gingerbread Decorating Station. Everyone gets to decorate their own cookies. even take some home to the wee ones. Or better yet, build a bunch of fruit baskets that you can hand out to your friends as gifts.

Yes we know that when you call us with your date and you’re looking for holiday party planning ideas, we can deliver. It’s not an easy task being in charge of coming up with holiday party ideas for a small office — or a large one for that matter.

Give us a call right now. Let us know how we can help.
You’ll be amazed out how simple this can be.

If You Ever Drove A Lamborghini Would You Tell Anybody?

I was pulling up to the restaurant gig today and I went to park with the valet. They were very busy because it was the dinner hour. I pulled up in my minivan to own unload my gear. I told the guy I was the piano player for the night and he quickly said, “Okay. Fine.” Then he ran to the car behind me.I was kind of insulted at first. I figured he was thinking, “Oh great! Here’s another musician. I don’t have to pay attention to him.”But I wasn’t insulted when I looked in my rearview mirror to see the car that he ran to.  It was a jet black Lamborghini. The valet was grinning ear to ear.
lamborghini, luxury cars, piano music, live music,

Nice Ride!

I don’t often have car lust. I have lusted after the BMW 700 series. Especially if it still comes with the hydrogen fuel-cell. That would be a cool car to drive. I’ve never driven one. But I definitely plan on driving one sometime in my life.

I have driven the Corvette. Now that’s a nice machine. I would definitely look into getting a Corvette. But most of the other high-end luxury cars don’t really interest me all that much. I’m sure they’re nice. I’m sure they’d be wonderful to drive and to own. But I don’t give them all that much thought.

But as I looked at this Lamborghini I thought,
“Now that’s a car I should definitely look into someday.”

I looked at the valet with a smile on his face as he drove off in the Lamborghini and I wondered “I’ll bet he has a short list of really nice cars he would like to own someday.” I’m sure he does and I’m sure that if he did not have a Lamborghini on his list he does now.

The valet has probably driven more luxury cars than I’ve even thought of in my life.

One more thing — if had ever worked as a valet and I had a chance to park a Lamborghini, I would definitely tell my friends. “Yeah, I’ve driven a Lamborghini.”  Even if I only just parked one.

Graduation Quotes Worth Remembering

Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving.
They make mistakes but don’t quit.- Conrad Hilton

This is the season of new beginnings. Spring time. Hope. New things.

One season ends and another begins. Accomplishments bear fruit and we see the results of our efforts come forth. Graduation.

We had another high school graduation this month. Our youngest left high school and embarks on her next chapter. College. A new season. A new beginning.

With all of our children, we have hopes and dreams that they will one day do well; find their way, contribute on a meaningful way.

We give them the best of ourselves (and sometimes the worst) and we hope that it will be enough for when they need it most. Schools. Clothes. Friends. The best of everything – or at least the best that we can provide at the time.

graduation quotes, graduate, graduation parties, comedy, quotes, It’s like the great Robin Williams joke. And I’m paraphrasing of course, You hold them in your arms as a new born and you wonder what their lives’ will be like. Will they be hearing “… and now to accept the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, Physics and Basketball …” or will they be saying “Would you like fries with that?”

So here’s to all of you and yours doing well this graduation season. May all your parties be grand and festive and may all your futures be bright and productive.

piano music, entertainment for events, fundraising ideas, live music entertainment, piano entertainer,

Piano Music Will Raise Funds. Really!

Live sing along piano music goes down in history as one of the all time great fundraising ideas and is a great choice for your next charity fund raiser event.

1. We are affordable with structured rates to fit every budget. We offer discounts for charity event entertainment packages that benefit children such as after school programs, athletic associations and most especially religious groups.

2. We can involve everyone in your audience because it spans every demographic; kids, tweeners, teens, millennials, young families, retirees on up to grandparents.

Even the people who don’t get to joining in with the sing along or the dancing will have a good time watching all their friends and co-workers get up and be all silly.

3. A VERY versatile live music entertainment choice. We can add a band or maybe hust a drummer, we can feature ‘guest’ singers from your group, we can create a karaoke event. Sound versatile to you too?

4. The piano player can take your requests. You get to set the pace of the show. If you don’t like the song one of these wonderful performers are playing, make a request and change the song. It’s fun when you’re in charge.

5. The very best reason you’re getting is live music entertainment played by a real musician in real time. Too many acts play with recorded music these days. And why not? The technology is there and it sounds so good. But because we’re actually playing piano and singing live for you, you get to hear us make mistakes and screw up the words and laugh at ourselves for doing it. Not bad huh,?

Try us. You’ll see why live piano music makes one of the All Time Great Fundraising Ideas to come around since forever.

oh wait … did I say 6 Reasons? Yes. I did. Reason #6 … IT’S FUN!!!

Tea Drinkers Don’t Suck

They just sip. And that’s why I don’t like tea.

I’m going to say something here that’s going to piss a lot of people off. I don’t care. It needs to be said.

Tea Drinkers Don’t Suck

If I’m going to have something to drink – I want to drink it. You can’t drink tea. You have to sip it. And that’s what infuriates me.

You can’t drink tea. It takes forever. I wish it didn’t.

I have things to do. I have people to be. I don’t want to waste my time sipping tea. Give me something to drink. There I’ve said it. I like to swallow.

You have to wait for it to cool down to sip it or you’ll burn the crap out of the roof of your mouth. Who wants a burned mouth? Not “It”.

It’s fine for my wife. She likes tea. No I take that back.

She loves tea. She drinks it all day long and she says it makes life simple and more enjoyable. She says tea lets you think about things before you react to them.

So since she knows so much more about so many more things than I do, I decided to join her at the tea store on one of our dates. Chicago has some great tea stores. There’s this one over on Broadway in Chicago. You can buy tea in bulk and it smells really good in there too.

But when we get home and she makes the tea, it tastes funky. Not like anything “good” funky. I tried to like it but I couldn’t.

Don’t Drink This

To me it tastes like dish water that has been soaking the skillet that you broiled that salmon in last night.

At best it resembles a baby diaper bin at a day care center for children that suffer from inferiority complexes.

Once I had a sip of my wife’s tea and I thought I was drinking hair dye that got poured into the Ganges River and strained through a gym sock that had been left in the bottom of my gym bag from last Thursday.

Who wants to drink that?

I don’t. Not me. Go look for crazy somewhere else. Please.

How Do You Spell 60th Birthday Party Ideas?

Everyone Loves A Good Celebration — Birthday Party Ideas

party ideas, surprise parties, piano entertainment, piano music,

Celebrate Now!

Celebrations are to be remembered. With all that can happen in the course of life, the good fortune to be able to come together with friends and family to commemorate a milestone like a birthday or an anniversary is to be relished with a party. But what can I say? I’m a professional entertainer. So there’s that.

With that said when I get invited to come to your event as a piano player, I am humbled to know that first of all, you value good music, and second of all that you have allowed me to be a part of an intimate family memory that will last a lifetime.

That is exactly what happened last year in the summer when George and Colleen invited me to their home to celebrate George’s 60th birthday party. A little back story first …

George is happy to be celebrating anything above ground. Especially a 60th birthday party. George had had a major heart attack a year earlier. Like as in MAJOR. The weird part is George is one of those health nuts. Apparently he is quite active riding his bike and taking long tours for fun. He’s been doing this for years. In fact, George looks like one those guys who is healthy. Fit, tall, muscualar and full of life and energy.

If you were to put George in a line of 20 other men his age, you would pick him last as a candidate for “The Big Grabber”. But you would have picked wrong.

At the fateful moment he was blessed to be around his family and his wife, who is a registered nurse and knew how to administer CPR, thus keeping him alive long enough to get him on the table and get his operation that allowed him to live.

Now jump ahead a year later and everyone is happy to celebrate a surprise 60th birthday party for him.

So as part of his surprise party his wife, Colleen, and his kids, now grown, prepared this party under the radar. The misdirect (every surprise party needs a misdirect – where you get the celebrant out of the house long enough to get everything prepared) was to take him on a “short” bike ride down around Chicago to the lakefront and back. Nothing too strenuous.

We were all assembled in the backyard when he came around back towards the garage on his bike when we yelled “SURPRISE!!!” to which George was startled so severely that he fell off his bike.

It was then that we immediately realized maybe this whole “SURPRISE!!!” thing might not be good for his health lest we wanted to inflict another hear attack on the unsuspecting birthday boy.

BIRTHDAY PARTY, 60TH SURPRISE PARTY, PIANO MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT,

No … THANK YOU!

All was well though. Laughter and some memorable video footage will be enterted into the family archives for future laughs.

I was invited to be the piano player because George loves the Beatles and good music all around. Hence, the addendum at the end of the thank you note I received.

As you can see music reaches and heals all of us no matter where we are at. It helps during celebrations as well as times when Mother Nature rears her inevitable patterns.

So when considering party ideas, whether the good celebrations or the not so good, remember music will touch the soul of everyone who is there. It is an honor to not only play piano music for your birthday party ideas but also to be invited to your intimate family event. Thank you.

Dan – your performance not only touched & thrilled me,
it reached everyone’s soul who was there.
Love George”

Now I’m Going To Entertain You with A Story …

… about how to drive in a snow storm in Chicago.

snow tires, tire store, entertain, entertainment

Chicago Snow Storm Stories

So we got smacked with another snow storm here in Chicago this week.

Typical. It’s Chicago. It’s February. Go figure.

So why the hell don’t people know how to drive in this stuff? I mean – Seriously! Is it because we don’t have a foot of snow very often anymore? Are we just out of practice? It’s like Heeey C’mon already.

I remember getting a lot of snow when I was younger. Even in my early 20’s I had to be able to navigate city streets with all of the other citizens.

It was Par For The Course. Modus Operandi. Another Day in The Neighborhood.

When I was still a student of music at U of I in Chicago, as it was called back then, I lived in Wicker Park. My rent for a 2 bedroom was $150 a month. For those of you out of town, I can tell you now Wicker Park is one of those great neighborhoods where you now will not be able to find a 2 bedroom for less than $1500 these days – if that.

I had an old Chevy Suburban. Great truck. 8 cylinder. Rear wheel drive. Heavy. Moved everything and everywhere. Awesome truck.

Wicker Park was a barrio back then. Gangs? Yeah no problem. Ghettos? Yeah sure, whatever. Rat hole apartment and scum bag landlords? Heeeey it’s Chicago. Whatever.

I remember getting going after digging out of my parking spot, not daring to stop, zipping through one of those unplowed alleys on questionable snow tires I got from that discount tire shop on Division to get to the unplowed side street to get out to Damen Ave when I encounter another vehicle driving in my direction.

Now I had lived in Wicker Park about a year and a half at the time. I knew my neighbors. All upstanding citizens to be sure and they were kind enough to inform me, in true Chicago tradition, “Heeey, we’re all okay over here. It’s those people across the alley/across the street/ north of Milwaukee Ave/fill in the blank you gotta worry about … “

So in other words, I knew how to fill in the blanks, I knew where the boundaries were drawn and I knew who was on who’s side. I knew I had a guy and I knew the other guy had a guy so it’s all kopesthetic, right?

So like I said, I’m zipping along on my snow tires in my Chevy Suburban and I realize I’m in that ‘other’ neighborhood and I see this guy coming at me in his beater and we both know not to stop in the snow or we’re both getting stuck.

So what do we do?

We keep going.

That’s what we do.

C’mon it’s Chicago.

Sliding along, spinning our wheels but moving forward and as we miraculously pass each other safely we both look out our rolled down windows and we both started laughing. We were passing by so close we could have reached out and High Fived each other but we didn’t dare take our hands off the wheel at that particular moment.

As we finally fish tailed past each other our tail ends decided to dish out that High Five. It was a Love Tap. A Cheek Kiss.

Maybe it was that I didn’t want to stop knowing I wasn’t going to be protected in that neighborhood. Maybe it was him who didn’t want to get out and check it out for possibly very similar reasons. Add to that neither one of us were driving a brand Audi or anything.

So I looked out my side mirror and I saw him wave an “okay” as I was doing the same back to him.

No harm. No foul. No big deal driving in Chicago snowstorms.

Come visit some time and we’ll go for a drive. And maybe we’ll play some great live music together. Or if you’re not a musician and you’d rather just listen, we’re okay with that too. Either we’ll entertain you with tails and songs.

Heeey. Chicago. Go figure.

What’s The Next Holiday To Celebrate? Can You Say Mardi Gras? Dueling Pianos in Kankakee

Mardi Gras Dueling Pianos in Kankakee Feb 7 2015

dueling pianos party ideas 50th birthday

Surprise Party Ideas with Live Music Fun!

We had the opportunity to get down to Kankakee IL twice during the holiday party season this year. It’s fascinating how powerful word of mouth referrals can be for us. We played live music at two events both hosted by the same venue; The Kankakee Country Club. I practically feel like a member now.

The first party was a company event for the local Bank. Small party of employees and spouses. Awards and bonuses were handed out and then the party began. Dance floor was filled al night long.

The second night this month was New Years Eve entertainment with an extra added bonus: Wende’s 50th Birthday Party. Surprise! Except she knew what was going on cuz that’s the kind of woman Wende is. Plus, her husband Rende spilled the beans earlier …. ooohhh say, like …. 9 months earlier. No biggie tho. Their kids were there, her parents and her entire family. We had a DJ after we finished. What a pleasure to be invited to such a fun filled event.

We’ll be back in Kankakee dueling pianos style coming up this February 7 2015 for a fund raiser for the local Chambers of Commerce. As is the case with many local communities, the Kankakee area has had to continue to change with the times. Their local Chamber is no different. They’re still providing jobs for families and helping small businesses grow.

We will be hosted by another stalwart venue perfect for company events; The Knights of Columbus Hall. KC Halls all over the USA are hosting community events such as fund raisers and charity events designed to benefit local churches and businesses.

So come on down to the Kankakee KC Hall this Feb 7 2015 for a first rate night of live music and comedy featuring one of our most popular shows, All American Dueling Pianos. Doors open at 6 PM and you can call the Kankakee County Chamber 815-351-9068

Fundraising Ideas in Ohio

An excellent example of

Fundraising Ideas in Central Ohio

You know I am constantly doing charity events and we as entertainers know truly the value of giving something back. We are entertainers who love to provide live music entertainment whenever we can. And we are ALWAYS in support of communities who are doing their best to help out all of our kids. Kids are kids wherever you go. It doesn’t matter if its your church or your school or your activities center. We believe, my wife and I, that if we keep the kids busy and give them opportunities to experience a wide variety of activities, they will grow in confidence. Then when it’s their turn, they’ll be contributing members of society wherever they wind up.

In fact, here is an example of one of our kids in action.

Even A Little Bit Can Make A HUGE Difference

Our oldest daughter, Zaya, is in school at Ohio University. (No that’s not her in the picture) She is involved in an excellent example of fundraising ideas. She is currently studying social work there in Athens OH. She is doing a great job so far. She is taking a full load of Honors Classes in their Tutorial Program. She is also working 25-30 a week at a family shelter.

Please give whatever you can. Because even a small donation can be HUGE to a child in need.

Holiday Piano Music w/o the Nausea

Holiday Music Entertainment That Doesn’t Make You Sick!

If you think piano music for company parties is nauseating, then you haven’t heard me play piano. Entertainment for events is always entertaining when you have Dan Gloglee behind the piano singing and cracking jokes. Holiday party entertainment now
