I would like to interrupt your viewing of the latest cat video and call the attention of all the dog lovers out there.
I wonder if this is how you feel? So let me start by saying ….
I cant even begin to tell you how much I love snow and winter. Here it is the first week of January and we finally got our first measurable snow fall of the entire season.
Don’t get me wrong. As a piano player not having to move gear and music equipment through snow banks in freezing cold weather for the entire holiday party season made our lives infinitely easier.
I’m just saying that I know a lot of people love to complain about the cold and the wind and the snow. I’m not one of those people.
Tonight the temperature is expected to dip down below zero with -30 wind chills. Dangerous weather no doubt. But honestly, I have no problem with it. I actually went for a walk tonight.
I got my boots on with warm socks, tied ’em all up tight, dressed in layers, grabbed my warmest pair of mittens, the kind that make your hands sweat, scarf (to keep my singing voice healthy) wrapped tight with no possibility of air getting in through my coat, nice warm hat, a gaiter to go around that and hit the sidewalks at a brisk pace.
I love the sound of crunching snow underneath my feet. I love the sting of the air on my exposed cheeks. I love the feeling of independence I get from being able to be out in this kind of weather.
Maybe this is how dog owners feel. The freedom to get out doors no matter what kind of weather we have.
I also love listening to the weathermen and women go on and on with such consternation about “Oh my God, It’s gonna be so dangerous out tonight!”
Who cares? Dress warm. Enjoy winter. What a beautiful scene the snow makes on the trees.
Get out and enjoy it.
… And while you’re at it go out and catch some cool live music or a piano player in your neighborhood. Haven’t got good piano music and comedy in your neighborhood? Give me a call. I’ll stop by no matter what kind of weather we have. Really!
Okay. Now back to your cat videos.
